Do you feel like going to the cinema, but you have questions? Maybe you are not sure how the ticket booking system works or you just want to know what the VIP room holds? We came prepared and have collected the questions that are most frequently asked from us. Browse this list and find your question. 1.       Movie schedule

 

When will be next week’s schedule available?

Next week’s schedule (Thursday-Wednesday) is uploaded between Monday and Tuesday at midnight. It may vary in case of certain movies.

 

How long is a movie shown and when is it take off the schedule?

It cannot be known in advance as it depends on many factors. (viewership, interest, distributor, new movie offers)

 

2.       Ticket booking, ticket purchase

 

When can I book tickets?

The new movie schedule is updated on Tuesday until midnight. You can purchase and book tickets after that. It may vary in case of certain movies. You can find the current weekly movie schedule on our website.

 

Is booking free? Is the call at a premium rate?

We do not charge additional cost for booking and you can call us toll free on the 06 80 800 800 number or from abroad +36 1 999 6161.

 

I tried to book a discounted ticket on the website, but I couldn't do that. Why?

In case of booking we always book the number of seats and tickets thus every ticket is at the full price. The discount shall be applied receipt at the cashier’s desk upon showing the proper identification

 

 

Why do I have to give my phone number during the booking process?

Providing a number is optional. In case of booking by phone or on the internet, we ask for a phone number

so that we can notify you in case there is a change in the schedule.

 

Can someone else take over my ticket?

Yes, if they know the booking name or ID, or if they have the discount ID.

 

Are there any consequences of me not taking over my booked ticket?

No, there is no consequence. 30 minutes before the start of the movie the booked seats are freed up.

 

If I book a ticket, when can I take the tickets at the earliest?

After the booking you can take them until half an hour before the movie starts. It is possible every morning 15 minutes before the first screening, when the cashiers open. 

The VIP  (Cinema City Aréna, Cinema City Mammut, Budapest) 4DX (Cinema City Westend, Budapest, Cinema City Győr and Cinema City Debrecen) and also ScreenX (Cinema City Aréna, Budapest) are exceptions to this rule, which you can only reserve tickets by calling the 06 80 800 800 toll free number, from aboriad: +36 1 999 6161, and only to those customers, who have gift tickets to these type of screenings.

As for the VIP tickets you can collect them one hour (60 mins) before the beginning of the show.

 

Is it possible to hold my reservation even if I do not get there 30 minutes before the beginning of the movie?

We can reserve the take over of the previously booked tickets until 30 minutes before the beginning of the screening,

60 minutes in case of VIP tickets (Cinema City Aréna, Cinema City Mammut, Budapest). The booked tickets for the first show according to the opening hours, can be taken over 15 minutes before the screening.

We take no responsibility for the tickets that were not picked up in time.

 

Is there a separate cashier, where I can take over my booked ticket?

You must wait in line, there is no shortcut. There is a separate cashier only for the Cinema City Aréna VIP room.

 

In case of sold-out screenings do I have a chance to get a ticket if I go there?

We delete the bookings that were not taken over 30 minutes before the show. These freed seats can be purchased at the cashier’s desk of the given cinema.

 

It is possible to buy tickets online? If yes, where?

You're in the right place! Here on our website, you can buy tickets online by selecting the film and the show you want to see by clicking on "Buy tickets". When buying tickets online, it is recommended that you check which cinema, day, time, show and type of ticket you are buying before you pay. After the online purchase, we recommend checking the confirmation email and attachments. If you have any problems with your email, please feel free to call us any day of the week between 10:00 and 22:00 on 06 80 800 800 toll free or +36 1 999 6161 standard rate. Online ticket purchase is also possible via the official Cinema City Hungary mobile app or via ATM machines located next to the box office of selected cinemas. In the case of online purchase, if you purchase your cinema ticket via the official Cinema City mobile app (Android, iOS), you can access your cinema ticket as a registered user of the app within your account, under the "My Tickets" menu. For tickets purchased via the app, your ticket will also be sent to you by email.
We cannot be held responsible for tickets purchased from other sources than the cinema.

 

What are the advantages of the online ticket purchase?

It is worth buying a ticket online as you can spare time instead of standing in line for them. If you by discounted tickets, please bring your discount ID as well, because your cinema ticket will only be valid if you have it and this enables you to enter. You can buy an online cinema ticket on our website.

 

Can I charge the cinema ticket price to my phone balance?

Buying a cinema ticket is only possible at the cashier’s desk or online with a credit card, we cannot charge to a phone balance.

 

When can I buy tickets for a screening at the latest?

You can do it until 15 minutes after the movie has began. Please try to arrive in time, as the latecomers may disturb the entertainment of the people in the room.

 

Why can’t I buy a ticket an hour after the movie starts?

Because latecomers may disturb the entertainment of the people in the room.

 

What kind of identification is necessary to buy a discount ticket?

You can find detailed information about the discount tickets in the Houserules. We can only provide discount tickets if you can show the identification. You can only buy on discount ticket with one identification and if you do not show it in time, the ticket cannot be modified to be a discount one. 

 

How much is a ticket?

3.       Payment methods

 

Do you accept a Széchenyi Pihenőkártya?

No, we do not.

 

Is it possible to use a Telekom Kapcsolat Card in case of online purchase?

No, this discount can only be used on the spot purchasing in person, on weekdays, for maximum 2 tickets (except for VIP, 4DX and ScreenX). Further information HERE.

 

Can you give back change in case of vouchers?

No, we cannot give back from the value of these payments instruments. 

 

What online payment methods are available?

You can pay with every VISA, MASTER CARD, AMEX, Pay Pal.

 

4.       Screening information

 

What is OV? Which movie is in its original language? (And which is subtitled?)

Original version=In the original language, without subtitles. The subtitles movies have an “F” sign.

 

On what does it depend on whether a movie shall be shown in a subtitled or dubbed version?

It is the decision of the distributor, whether a whether a movie shall be shown in a subtitled or dubbed version. 

 

How many advertisements and trailers are there before the movie?

Usually about 15-30 minutes, but this time period can vary.

 

What does the age limit mean?

From our part the age limit is just a suggestion, we also let our younger visitors to enter.

 

5.       Gift vouchers

 

How and when can I buy a gift voucher?

You can buy gift vouchers in every cinema or cinema office. Few types can be purchased online as an e-voucher. Gift vouchers are valid for 6 month. It is important to note that no discount can be applied to our gift tickets. You can find out more under the Gifts page.

 

Is it possible to use a given type of gift ticket for another type of screening?

On every gift voucher it is stated for what type movies it can be used.

 

Is it possible to extend the expiration date of a gift ticket?

No, the gift ticket is valid for 180 days, we cannot modify the expiration date.

 

6.       3D glasses

 

Do I have to buy glasses for an IMAX 3D screening?

Yes, if you do not yet possess IMAX 3D glasses purchased at our cinemas.  IMAX 3D glasses can be purchased at the Cinema City Aréna cashier’s desk in adult and child sizes. Please, Note that you can only use the IMAX 3D glasses for IMAX 3D movies.

 

7.       Special screening formats

 

What is the difference between the screenings of the VIP room and the regular screenings?

The VIP tickets include unlimited drink and food consumption 30 minutes before the start of the movie in the VIP section. For further information, visit the VIP page!

 

Where can I find a VIP room?

Only the Cinema City Aréna and Cinema City Mammut in Budapest has these exclusive VIP rooms with VIP service.

 

What is difference between the IMAX and the digital 3D screenings?

Where can I find an IMAX cinema?

Only the Cinema City Aréna in Budapest has an IMAX room.

 

Where can I find a 4DX room?

You can find a 4DX room in the Cinema City WestEnd (Budapest) and in the Cinema City Győr and Cinema City Debrecen.

 

8.       Food/Drink

 

What allergens can be found in the products of the cafeteria? 

You can call the 06 80 800 800 toll free number, from abroad: +36 1 99 6161 or ask our colleague working in the cafeteria about the ingredients of the products in the cafeteria.

 

May I take food-drink that I have purchased elsewhere to the screening?

You can only take products purchased in Cinema City (products purchased in the cafeteria or the café), food and drink purchased elsewhere cannot be taken into the cinema rooms. 

 

9.       Change in the schedule, canceled screening

 

What happens if a screening is canceled?

In case of a canceled screening, please ask around in the cinema office. You have a right for a compensation of the cinema ticket, however in case of a canceled screening we cannot refund the price of the products purchased in the cafeteria and the café.

 

What happens to my ticket if the screening is canceled due to an unexpected event?

We try to inform our guests about the possibilities if the screening is interrupted, canceled due to a technical error, power failure, various natural disasters, force majeure, etc. If no other information is given out, then 90 days after the show, we give out Free Ticket Compensation (emergency ticket) in turn of the tickets for the canceled screenings. Eligibility is ensured by the movie tickets for the interrupted screening and we provide Free Ticket Compensation with the same type ticket, which can be redeemed at the respective cinema box office until the expiration date. 

 

10.   Other

 

Is there a discount for groups?

Yes, for more information please call us between 10 AM and 10 PM on the 06 80 800 800 toll free number. From abroad: +36 1 999 6161. 

 

Is possible to organize a private screening?

Yes! You can find more information under the Offers menu.

 

Can I have free or discount parking at the mall?

We can provide a +3 hour extra free parking in the mall parking lot if you verify the parking ticket at our cashier’s desk.

 

What kind of job and career opportunities are there at Cinema City?
